The water pump utilizes a rubber o-ring as it's gasket, which has probably failed. You can replace the rubber o-ring [recommended], or use high temperature RTV as a gasket instead. Add the piddling welch plug (more major) and that makes 5 leaks I've fixed in the past couple of weeks. The work yesterday went really smoothly and with no hiccups. No more driveway spotting or visible green blobs on cooling system parts for now.
